Las Vegas Council to Swear In Allen-Palenske and Brune at July 1 Meeting

Two Las Vegas City Council members will begin new terms Wednesday morning, as Ward 4 Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske and Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune are sworn in at the start of the July 1 City Council meeting.

When and where

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026. It will be held in Council Chambers on the second floor of Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St.

Who is being sworn in

Ward 4 Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske and Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune are scheduled to take the oath of office at the start of the meeting. Both are entering second terms. Allen-Palenske ran unopposed, while Brune won her primary election with more than 50% of the vote.

Nevada Child Seekers recognition

The ceremonial portion of the agenda will include recognition of Nevada Child Seekers, a nonprofit that has worked for more than 40 years to help locate missing and runaway children, support families in crisis and provide child safety education.

Citizen of the Month

Mayor Pro Tem Brian Knudsen is also set to recognize Colin McNaught, principal of Cimarron-Memorial High School, as the city\u2019s July 2026 Citizen of the Month. McNaught joined the school in 2013 as a biology teacher before later serving as dean, assistant principal and principal.
